Deary me, where is the time going to?! We can hardly believe that Term 2 is over already. But as the saying goes, time flies when you are having fun!
Learning this week
English - This week we had great fun identifying different variations of poetry (Paidi's helpful wording! :-)) such as: Caligrams, Kenning's poems and Acrostic poems. We wrote caligrams, Kenning's Poems and Acrostic poems all about our Shaping Up topic, animals and professions. Please ask us all about our learning at home!
Topic - We ended our topic with our very fun trip to Pizza Express on Sunday! Please see the post below for information about our trip as well as the many photographs we took. We then completed our armatures by wrapping them in tinfoil. They look very cool indeed! Next term, we will begin our final topic... Dinosaurs!! This is always a favourite topic of the children's and we can hardly wait to start!
Science - This week we continued to learn all about the Digestive System. We investigated the functions of our stomach during this process in the Science Lab. We placed bread into a plastic bag which represented our stomach. Function 1? Store the food! Next we added orange juice to the bag. This represented the digestive juices and acid that the glands create (for example, the liver and pancreas - thank you Hashim for reminding us of this as we type!). Next, we used our fingers to churn and mix the juice with the bread. What happened? The bread became mushed up until it was almost in liquid form. Function 2? Mix and churn the food! When the food becomes a liquid like this, it is then ready to move onto the next part of the digestive system, the small intestine (function 3!). Have a look at our "lovely" pictures of our investigation below.
Congratulations to my Friend of the Week, Aryan M, and my Pupil of the Week, Hashim! Two fabulous hard workers, self-managers and friends; well done boys!
Thank you all for your kind donations for Mrs Binnie and Mrs Richardson's charity climb up Kilimanjaro this July! Every little helps! (",)
We have had a lovely and fun Term 2, and are ready now for our final term in Year 3! For now however, it is time to rest and for the children to take a well deserved break! Thank you to all in 3G for all your hard work so far this year! I wish you all a lovely Spring Break!!
