Learning
English - This week in English, we continued with Authors and Letters. We wrote a first draft letter to a chosen author. This was a formal style letter, and we included questions that we wanted to know about the author, their books and writing in general. We edited our first draft, and completed them today. We are going to post them off to our authors early next week and hopefully they will reply! Some children from 3G were lucky to participate in a Skype session with the famous author Julia Johnson, who wrote the The Pearl Diver. Next week, we will continue with letter writing, where we will write a letter for our assessment.
Topic - This week we cut out foods and placed them into the correct food groups, we designed our favourite pizzas and then made a healthier version, we designed a healthy balanced meal using the Maxwell foodplate and we designed a healthy lunch box. We also took photos of our lunch boxes to see how healthy they were. Well done to Isabelle who had the healthiest lunchbox in 3G! (",) Thank you to Amy's mammy who has kindly volunteered to come with us on our trip to Pizza Express on the 22nd March. We can't wait!!
Science - This week in Science, we learned all about the digestive system and the journey of food from our mouth to the bathroom. We learned some very scientific words such as: oesphagus, sphincter, small intestine, colon, saliva, anus, stomach, digestive juices, pancreas. Please ask us to explain our learning at home!
In the lab, we were identifying bones in the human body. We can now name some of these bones, such as: pelvis, cranium, tibia, fibula, humerus, patella, radius, ulna. Can we name these for you at home I wonder?
Next week, we will be focusing on the teeth and keeping them healthy.
Have a look at our photographs of our investigation this week below.
