Topic in Year 3
In topic we have been looking at holiday destinations and planning a flight path to a different country. The link below is really great - have a look!
Websites and Apps
An interesting App (iPad/iPhone/iPod) to do with air travel is Flight Radar 24 Pro. This allows you to track all commercial aircraft around the world in real time. This is a paid App, but is interesting to watch. It is also available as a web site at www.flightradar24.com
For help with connectives or other Literacy and Numeracy topics, a great website is www.bbc.co.uk/schools
Select KS2 (Key Stage 2) and then browse by subject and topic/genre.

SEWA DAY @ JPS 2014
What is Sewa?
Sewa: Selfless service or Sewa (a Sanskrit word) is a commonly used term in South Asian cultures to denote a service that is performed without any expectation of result or award for the person performing it for a wider benefit. Pronounced as Se-Va (‘Se’ as in ‘se’llotape and ‘Va’ as in ‘va’se).
What is Sewa Day?
Sewa Day is a globally recognized volunteering initiative encouraging people to come together with an aim of supporting their local community by getting directly involved in activities that enhance the environment, relieve poverty or bring joy to the community.
Why should we get involved?
Sewa Day has the power to help people make a difference to the lives around them. It provides an opportunity to teach students the value of being a global citizen, of giving, charity and selflessness.
What are we going to do at JPS?
We would like all children to earn an International phone card for a labourer in Dubai so that they can call their families at home. This will be a full school home-learning activity for the Eid weekend and break. Last year our children were fantastic and all came up with chores they could do to make another person’s life better. We would like our children to have their photo taken performing a chore and to bring this into school on Tuesday 7th October with their International Calling Card. To ensure parity in donation we felt the 20AED card would be most suitable. We look forward to seeing all the children’s selfless acts of kindness and we thank you in advance for supporting such a worthy cause.
