Minnah won the Star of the Week this week for her fantastic calculations in Maths! Well Done Minnah!
Thank you so much for the support for the Class Assembly. Lots of parents showed up and the children did a fantastic job. They spent a long time rehearsing the songs and practicing their lines and they worked together as a team to put it all together. A huge WELL DONE to 3F!
Next week:
This week in Science, we did an exciting investigation into tooth decay. We had to use boiled eggs, and lower them into different liquids such as coke, water, orange juice, milk and vinegar. We then had to leave them for a few days to see which liquid would have the least and worse effect on the eggshells. Here are some pictures: We also had to interview some people who were at the scene of a Dinosaur attack in Safa Park last week. (I was wondering why it was mostly closed). They interviews a Paleontologist, the Police, an Army General and a child who witnessed the whole thing. We had to ask burning questions to find out the details of the incident! In our Enhancement class, we are studying different countries from around the world... this week was China and we made these fantastic Chinese Lanterns!
Poppy won Star of the Week this week, for her excellent improvements in writing. Well Done Poppy. (We didn't have an assembly today so she will get her certificate in the first week back).
After Easter we will be starting our new topic; Footprints in the Past. We will be studying dinosaurs, paleontology and archeology.
Science- We are learning about rocks and soils, starting out by learning about archeology. Maths- We will be learning all about angles, turns and degrees. English- We are going to be learning how to write a Newspaper Report- Dinosaurs attack Safa Park! This week, we have been studying and performing poetry in English. We had lots of fun doing that. In Maths, we have been looking at data, and tallying up everyone's favourite Easter Eggs, which just made us all crave chocolate. They have been drawing their own bar charts, and they have improved so much since last time. I am very impressed. In Science, we have been looking at the digestive system, and we did a small experiment to see how the digestive juices break up and soften food in the stomach and the duodenum. Check out the pictures below: In Topic, we finished our Art work, making Giacometti inspired armatures based on our favourite athletes. We had to manipulate wire into an athletic pose, make a clay base, wrap strips of tin foil around to build up the bodies, and finally decorate the base. Here are some of the finished ones below: We were also lucky enough to watch the amazing Pocahontas play that Y6 have been doing. Phenomenal!
Next week, we will be learning all about different types of poems in English, finishing our Giacometti inspired sculptures and finishing up our topic on shaping up and healthy eating! |
