This week's learning.
This week in English we have been looking at non chronological reports. We have been looking at the different features that non chronological reports have, such as sub headings, facts, diagrams, captions etc.. We have also started doing some research for our own non-chronological report which will be all about airports! The children have already planned their sub headings and have planned what they would like to include in their own report. In Math’s we started off the week looking at capacity and volume. Thank you to everyone who sent in empty containers this week. These have really come in handy as we were using the bottles to estimate and measure the how much liquid each container would contain. The children did this really well and enjoyed the activity. We have also been looking at different written methods for addition and subtraction. Next week's learning Next week we will be carrying on with our non-chronological reports. Please feel free to help the children do some of their own research on airports at home. In Math’s we will be looking at data handling (tally charts, bar charts and pictograms). Star of the week Our star of the week goes to Ayaan for his excellent effort in English this week. Well done Ayaan! This week we have been writing our adventure stories. We started off the week by planning our story. The children worked in pairs for this and mapped out main parts to a story. They used lots of descriptive language, such as adjectives, similes and adverbs! I was extremely impressed with their work. Below are a few examples of their plans. The children then used their plans to help them write their own story, using all the features that we had spoken about at the beginning of the week. Our star of the week this week goes to Ilijiana for her fantastic effort in Math’s this week! Well done Ilijiana! Next week we will be moving on to Non chronological reports in English. We will also be looking at capacity and volume in Maths. If you have any empty bottles, containers or empty yogurt pots please do bring them in as we will be experimenting with them next week!
Hi, welcome to 3B's weekly blog! Every week I will be uploading pictures of the children and examples of work we have been doing in the classroom. This week I would like to share pictures of our science experiment with you. The children were experimenting with magnets to test which magnet was the strongest. The children thoroughly enjoyed this and worked really hard! Next week we will be looking at writing adventures stories!
